Viva La Cuba

Ahhhhhh Cuba...how I miss you my friend. What an incredible vacation. I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend a week with my family. Adding a G in the mix made our lives even better.

Here was a typical day in Cuba:
6:00am- A wake-up from our own little rooster. We would pull open the patio door to the balcony and watch our little squeaker crawl out to greet the day (in nothing but a diaper). It was usually dark, and one morning there was a huge full moon just ouside our window next to the palm trees.

7:30am-breakfast (because it was a buffet it was super for kids---could be as fast a meal as needed. If we needed to hurry up or leave at any point we could just get up and go. No bill!!) There was tons of variety. B loved the omelet bar (he's been in egg withdrawl since we went egg free!)

8:15am- Beach. We had a great set-up in the shade of a tree. G would usually take Sophie for a long walk on the beach when we first arrived, and we would sit and read, do crossword puzzles or just watch the ocean. (the beach is such a great place to people watch!)

9:30am- Sophie would begin her second breakfast...of sand. Her face was usually covered in sand, and there was often a ring of sand around her mouth. Good fibre, I say. We would make sandcastles and swim in the ocean. G and I swam some ocean lengths a few of the days. I had to try to overcome my shark phobia (didn't) but would be okay as long as there was a paler, juicy person out farther than us)

12:30pm--lunch and then naptime. (While S slept one of us would stay with her and read on the balcony, while the other two would have a leisurely lunch, or lay by the pool)

3:30pm--all of us reunited at the pool. There were lots of kids at the resort, so Soph would hang out with some newly made buds at the kiddie pools.

6:30pm--dinner at the buffet or one of 4 a la carte restaurants. There was usually live music, and Soph was often serenaded. The staff would often give her flowers. The Cuban people were so incredibly kind, and were wonderful with Sophie. They would spend lots of time chatting with her, and she soaked up all of the love.

7:30pm-Soph crashed in bed (she slept SO well after a day in the fresh ocean air), and the three of us would sit out on our balcony and chat. By 10pm all of us had usually hit the hay.

And now we're back to SNOW!!!! Are you kidding me???
