Sophie had her two year doctor blitz yesterday morning. We started with her two year check-up. Her report was all good!
She is still in the 5th percentile at 22lbs 10ounces (but following her own curve) and is 85 centimetres (25 percentile).
The doctor was very impressed with her speaking, which he says is (in his opinion) the most important developmental marker. She was dancing around the floor of his office, in only her socks and singing his name over and over again. He commented on her social nature, and she flashed him a huge grin (our little ham!). She actually cried FOR him after we left his office.
We then went two doors down for our yearly allergist appointment (so handy to be in the same office!). Sophie had to have another blood test to check on the status of her dairy and egg allergy. She also tested her for a variety of nuts, and if they come back clear then we will be able to start her on peanut butter and other nutty things!!! I asked her if we should even get our hopes up about her dairy and egg allergy being outgrown so soon. She said that it is unlikely the egg one will be gone, but because the dairy allergy was quite mild, it may be gone and we could start introducing it. I have to say, that now I have my hopes up so much. I feel, in my gut, that those chances are slim, but I still can't help but hope. We should get the results in 2-3 weeks. Sophie was so brave getting the blood taken. At first she was crying, but then once the needle was in and we were all singing 'ABCs' and "Twinkle Twinkle" she stopped, and actually was even smiling a bit. They took a lot of blood (2 1/2 viles) which is a lot for a wee little thing like her!
We left the office yesterday feeling really upbeat. This time last year we were having a really rough time with Sophie's health, and she has come a long way.
