The last stop on our trip was to my nephew's FIRST birthday party. The day began with a LOT of rain, but luckily at the park where the party was they had booked a shelter. The rain held off just in time for a lovely walk around the zoo.
Bodhi trivia followed a delicious lunch, and even more delicious froggy cupcakes (that were adorable!!). It was an occasion that we wouldn't have missed for anything. He is such a wonderful little guy, and he handled his party so well---not a peep, only big smiles (and a few snores)
After the party we drove for a quick visit to Mike and Em's new house! They had just moved in the week before (they had a 10 day house close just like we did....I mean, 10 days from first sight to owning it!!!). It was already unpacked and it is fabulous. It is so nice to see them so happily settled in a great house and neighbourhood. Em's nieces Jet and Ruby came by, and Sophie and Jet played 'Monsters" with Mike for a long time (involving hiding in closets and jumping on beds) then we popped them back in the car.
The girls both had a nap and when they woke up we realized they hadn't eaten much. We decided to stop en route at a McDonald's and when we walked in, the strangest thing was happening. It was the opening day party. There was dance music blaring, a DJ, the place was packed, Ronald McDonald and his buddies were all there giving out cake and the place was hopping. It was a really bizarre experience. Anyway, we ate our lunch with the beat a bobbin, Sophie had some love-in time with the McD's characters (she went crazy over the moon for them) then we drove home.
We were totally pooped. What a busy week. What a wonderful week, but what an exhausting week. We were all SOOOO happy to be back home in our beds. As fun as it is to go away, it's always great to come home.
