JULY

We had a great Canada Day at a celebration that happened at the big park by our house. Sophie was so much more of a 'kid' this year, and could really take part. Sophie went bananas in the jumping castle you can see in the picture, and it was hard to tear her out of it. When bigger kids would bounce and knock her off her balance she would burst out laughing.
Sophie and I kicked off the summer by taking a week-ish trip home to visit family. We got to see lots of family, swam in Auntie Katie's pool, and got spoiled by oodles of cousins and doting aunties and uncles. One highlight was a
visit from Mom-Mom (one of S's great-grandma's), who came down for the day.We then headed up to Brett's cottage on Georgian Bay for a week. Sophie loved every minute of it. She ran around the veranda, picked and ate a LOT of blueberries with her G.G. (ANOTHER great-grandma!) (don't ask me why, but Sophie won't touch blueberries in her high chair, but when she's picking them herself, she eats them in droves!) and played in the water every day. It has been really great to watch her confidence grow in the water as the summer has progressed. At first she was quite hesitant in the water, and now she throws my hand away from her as she runs in to play. (When it's up to her neck I put my foot down and make her hold my hand!! A little too dare devilish for my liking!) She's had a few accidental and brief 'dunks' (insert mother guilt) but I was way more upset th
an she was afterwards. It was a great chance for Sophie to get to know her G.G., and spend a whole week together.
We returned from our week at the cottage to prepare for the annual Christopher canoe tr
ip that was scheduled for the last weekend in July. We were going to be canoeing in Bon Echo, so we decided to drive up the night before to stay the night at a cottage that Paul and his girlfriend Jenn had rented. There were two other kids there, and Sophie loved being with these two kidlets. We phoned Sophie's G from the cottage and heard that the weather forcast was for rain and thunderstorms all weekend long (two toddlers camping in the rain= not so fun) so we changed the plan and decided to head back to the Christopher cottage on Georgian Bay. It was here that Sophie was going to be seeing her cousin Lucy who lives in Winnipeg!! But this visit definitely requires a new post!!

Glad you're back. I missed reading about all your adventures! I had three whole weeks with Isabelle this summer. She calls me Ga Ga. Now I'm going to try and even up the time with Lia. Grandkids are the best.
