Belated Halloween

I have, once again, fallen off the blogger wagon. When I get home after school, my mind and body resembles a blob mass. By the time 8pm rolls around, and my motherly duties are over, the blob turns into a brainless goo that is unable to speak or write coherently.
I am going to try and play catch up so that the past month doesn't fade away into the 'placenta brain abyss'.

Halloween started with our pumpkin carving. Sophie was thrilled and talked a lot about touching the 'goopies' (better her than me...I've never been a big fan of pumpkin innards)
We had a wonderful Halloween this year. 11 years ago my mom made this bumblebee costume, and each and every one of my nieces and nephews (Soph is numero seven!) has worn it during their toddler years. Sophie was no exception!

It was the second annual tradition of getting 'dirty bird' aka KFC for dinner with Bean next door. (Once a year is all my arteries can take!) It was disgustingly delicious.

We had Sophie's friend Bronwyn over to trick or treat. Sophie was in heaven, and for the first 10 minutes in her costume ran in circles wildly around Bronwyn the skunk.
Trick or treating was a hit. Sophie had no hesitations walking up to random strangers houses, and asking them for candy (come to think of it, isn't this a very confusing thing...when parents drill into their kids from day one not to accept candy from strangers?? Things that make you go hmmmm). At one house she actually went past the man in the door to go fully into his house!

Sophie got lots of candy (of which most of it had dairy, so her parents 'took it off of her hands' after she went to bed. Luckily she didn't even really 'get' that it was candy at all, and that was fine by us.

After Sophie got tired of trick-or-treating (which was after about 10 or 15 houses) we sat outside and gave out candy with our upstairs neighbours Paul and Jenn, and Bean and Nicco from next door. At moments like this I realize how incredibly lucky we are to have two of our closest friends living in the same building. Not only to take brutal advantage of them in the babysitting department, but also to have a wonderful sense of community.
