On May 1st it actually happened--my sisters and my mom and I took a road trip to Toronto. If you can believe it took four months to find a weekend that all four of us were free. We booked the tickets, found a fabulous hotel (offering a great deal!!) and all was well. We were all anxious that my mom's health would be well enough that we could go, and it was!!
The drive was wonderful. The hotel was swanky, modern, completely UN-kid-friendly AND a block from the theatre. We had supper at Swiss Chalet (where my mom can eat!) which was the same block as the theatre.
The show was fun. As kids we watched the Sound of Music each and every year it was on T.V. We all knew every song note by note, and practically every line. So it was very fitting to see the musical all together.
That night we all lay in bed watching the T.O. skyline and CN tower from our hotel room window chatting about the show and the adventures of the day.
The next morning we went to Cora's for a delicious breakfast, then did some shopping. It seemed far too short, but we left for home just after lunch. We have decided to make it an annual event. It had been at LEAST 13 years since the four of us had been alone like that, so we are aiming to shorten the amount of time by at least a decade for the next mother-daughter weekend!
